At Darras Hall, we’re incredibly proud of the strong results our children achieve, which reflect the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of both our pupils and staff. Our statutory assessment results show that children at Darras Hall perform above national averages – something we’re very proud of.
However, we also know that these results are just one part of the picture. They provide a snapshot of progress at a moment in time, but they don’t capture everything that makes our school special. We’re committed to offering a full and well-rounded curriculum that helps every child to thrive – academically, socially, and emotionally.
We’re always looking for ways to improve and build on our successes to ensure that every child at Darras Hall has the best possible start to their learning journey.
EYFS (Reception) 2025
The Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are a set of key skills and knowledge that staff aim for children to reach by the end of Reception. They focus on important areas like communication, physical development, personal and social skills, literacy, and maths. If a child is said to be achieving a Good Level of Development, it means they have met the expected standard in the key areas that are most important for success in Year 1. Every child develops at their own pace, and the ELGs are just one way to understand and celebrate their progress so far.

Year 1 Phonics check 2025
At the end of Year 1, children take part in a short phonics check to see how well they can use their phonics skills to read simple words. It helps teachers understand how confidently a child is decoding words using the sounds they’ve learned. If a child reaches the expected standard it means they are on track with their reading and have a strong foundation to build on in Year 2.

KS2 (Year 6) assessments 2024
At the end of Year 6, children take national assessments (SATs) in reading, maths, and spelling, punctuation and grammar, with writing assessed by their teacher. These tests give a snapshot of a child’s learning and help show how well they’ve understood the curriculum before moving on to secondary school. If a child meets the expected standard, it means they are working at the level typical for their age and are ready to take the next step in their learning.
