Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

We are committed to ensuring that our curriculum is relevant to the world in which children live.  It engages, inspires and excites in order that all children succeed.

Our curriculum is flexible, which allows us to fulfil the requirements of the national curriculum in addition to our aspirations for children.  It is continually adapted to ensure that it is progressively sequenced and provides challenge for all.

In order to reflect our commitment to preparing children as global citizens of the future,  we use our curriculum to promote their understanding of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Personal Development

At Darras Hall Primary School, we provide daily opportunities for pupils to build upon skills that contribute to their own growing personal development. This is achieved through an intentional, whole school focus on the following aims for children throughout their school experience:

  1. Recognise and maintain healthy relationships
  2. Know how to keep themselves safe (including online)
  3. Know how to stay physically and emotionally healthy
  4. Be respectful, active citizens

Our personal development programme permeates all aspects of school life through our:

  • Assembly programme, which is carefully planned to develop pupils' understanding of The Darras Code, British Values and Protected Characteristics using an age appropriate approach
  • Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) curriculum, which includes Relationships education
  • RE curriculum
  • Extra curricular programme
  • Educational visits offer
  • Pupil leadership development (school council, eco council, diversity council, sports leaders, digital leaders)
  • Forest school

Please see your child's Phase Leader if you would like more detailed information about our school's curriculum.
