Summer Term Letter to Parents

Dear Parents

Welcome to the Summer term, we hope that you and your families are keeping well and getting used to the new way of living and working. Today I have written to the children to welcome them back to the new school term and to explain that their teachers will be setting work for them each day as they were doing before the Easter break. I have also spoken to them about the importance of community and a sense of belonging for everyone. I would be grateful if you could share the children’s letter with your child today.

As a school we have been very impressed with how parents have supported the children and how you have adapted to these changes in such unpredictable circumstances. We understand that this is a difficult time for all families and that there may be times when you are unable to follow a timetable or when life at home needs to take priority. Our learning activities are there to guide you all and to offer some stability through uncertain times.

The DfE have also issued guidance to parents on supporting children with their learning at home.

Supporting your children's education during coronavirus (COVID-19)

The school is currently issuing Free School Meal Vouchers for all children who are entitled to free school meals. Unfortunately there has been unexpected delays in the receipt of vouchers but please be assured that we are following this up with the national distributor as a matter of urgency. Please note children from Reception to Year 2 who are in receipt of Universal Free School Meals are not entitled to the free school meals voucher unless they have registered for Free School Meals due to their circumstances.

I am aware that in recent weeks for some families circumstances may have changed. If your circumstances have changed and you think that you may now be entitled to Free School Meals, please follow this link for further information and to check your eligibility

 Apply for free school meals.

I know that many parents have found it difficult to explain the current situation to their children. I am pleased to be able to pass on the links to two books written specifically for children which you may find useful to help them to understand what is going on in the world.

My Hero is You

There has been speculation in the media this weekend about dates when schools will re-open. We do not know for certain when this will be, however, please be assured that we will be ready to open as and when required and we sincerely hope that this will be during this term.

Thank you for your continued support in these unprecedented times.

With best wishes to you and your families
