We started our year concentrating on place value. We focused on sorting, counting and representing objects before moving on to counting forwards and backwards with numbers up to 10. 

We introduced the vocabulary of 'greater than', 'less than' and 'equal to' to compare numbers. We used the words and also the symbols to represent this. Practical resources were useful to help us understand this concept. 

We moved on from 'Place Value' and began to look at 'Addition and Subtraction'. We focussed on numbers up to 10. To help us, we used part whole models, bar models and practical resources. 

We also looked at number bonds to 10 and how we can work these out systematically.
