Art and Design Progression of Skills
This involves the development of visual skills, knowledge and understanding,
investigating, making and art appreciation. The children experience a variety
of techniques and skills to develop their ability in “art making”. In lessons they
have the opportunity to select from and use a wide range of materials while
learning about traditions, famous artists and celebrated pieces. Art is taught
as a separate subject where a new skill or craft is introduced but it can also be
used to support and initiate learning in other curriculum areas.
Children’s work in Art is celebrated throughout the school in the form of
displays I the halls, corridors and classrooms.
