PSHE - It doesn't matter what you look like.
Today Mrs Cave made cakes for all of Year 5. Some were plain and some were decorated with icing and chocolate. All of the children were given the choice of a cake. The decorated cakes were all chosen first and some people were left without a choice and given a plain cake, some felt quite disappointed. When everyone had a cake and started eating we quickly found out that the plain cakes tasted nice and were made with sugar. The decorated cakes didn't taste as nice as they had been made with salt. We then talked about how it doesn't matter what someone looks like it's what's on the inside that counts. We talked about phrases like 'don't judge a book by it's cover' and 'beauty is only skin deep'. It's more important that our friends are nice people, make us laugh and are fun to be with than what they wear or how they look on the outside.
